CALL FOR PAPERS

61st IFLA General Conference
Istanbul, Turkey
August 20-25, 1995


The professional programme of the conference opens with an international contributed paper session, where selected speakers are invited to present major papers of broad international interest.

Persons interested in presenting a paper at this international session are invited to complete the attached application form and send it with a draft text of their proposed paper (in English, French, German, Spanish or Russian) to the Secretary of the IFLA Professional Board, to be received by 1 December 1994.

Please note: this is not a call for papers for the conference sessions of the individual Sections and Round Tables of IFLA. These groups are responsible for planning their own conference programme.

Time schedule

1 December 1994
Deadline for receipt of the draft text and the application form at IFLA Headquarters.
1 February 1995
Authors will be informed whether they are shortlisted.
15 March 1995
Deadline for submission of full text of paper to IFLA HQ (i.e. shortlisted papers).
15 April 1995
IFLA Headquarters will inform applicants of the final decision of the Professional Board.
15 June 1995
Deadline for receipt of final text of papers at IFLA HQ (in camera-ready form with a diskette, if possible).

Subject/topic of contributed papers

Contributed papers must focus on one of the sub-themes of the IFLA Conference.

Applicants should note that papers focusing exclusively on a local/national system or situation are less likely to be accepted.

IFLA has approved these five sub-themes:

  1. Information technology and the restructuring of libraries
  2. Cooperative national and international information networks
  3. The future of library materials
  4. Libraries and public education
  5. Professional communication

Authors of accepted papers will receive an official invitation to the IFLA Conference. However, travel costs to Istanbul and other costs (including registration fees, hotel, etc. can not be paid by IFLA. They are the responsibility of any author of an accepted paper.
