World Library and Information Congress: 72nd IFLA General Conference and Council"Libraries: Dynamic Engines for the Knowledge and Information Society"20-24 August 2006, Seoul, Korea Call for PapersLibraries for the Blind SectionTheme:"Accessible web pages and accessible OPACS" IFLA Libraries for the Blind Section is organising an Open Session at WLIC, 20-24 August 2006, in Seoul with the theme of accessible web pages and accessible OPACS. Digital technology provides blind and print-disabled people with an unprecedented opportunity to have access to information at the same time as sighted people. Print-disabled people have the technical means to access library catalogues and web pages but they are not all equally accessible. Print-disabled people often encounter obstacles when they use devices such as speech synthesizers and enlargement programs. We know that serious work is being done to make libraries, catalogues and web pages accessible for all. We are interested to find out about practical projects being done in this area as well as research and evaluation. We are inviting colleagues to submit papers for the open session. Please send the title of your presentation, a summary of maximum 300 words, your name, organisation and contact details to: Deadline for sending abstracts: 25 Jan 2006 Please note that the speaker has to pay his/her own expenses. | |
