University Libraries & Other General Research Libraries Section and the Information Technology Section

Theme:

"Institutional Repositories"

"Institutional Repositories" will be the theme of the program presented by the IFLA University Libraries & Other General Research Libraries Section and the Information Technology Section at the World Library and Information Congress: 72nd IFLA General Conference and Council in Seoul, Republic of Korea, 20-24 August, 2006.

Aims and Scope

This will be a 4 hrs session, with the first part of the session covering the 'theory' of institutional repositories (why we need these to support open access etc), and the second part covering the technical issues to be resolved and standards to be considered in implementing an institutional repository. Case studies of institutional repository implementations (successful and not so successful) that will inform IFLA members will be considered.

Language of Session

Preferably English. Availability of simultaneous interpretation into other IFLA languages to be confirmed and communicated to authors.

Abstract submission: English please, maximum 250 words, due March 24, 2006.

Notification of acceptance: April 10, 2006.

Papers due: May 15, 2006. Papers should be between 10 and 20 pages, including illustrations. There will be a maximum of twenty minutes for presentations of papers at the open session in Seoul. Please note that quality papers will be recommended to be submitted to IFLA Journal after the congress.

Please note that the expenses of attending the Seoul conference (including travel, expenses and conference fee) will be the responsibility of the author(s)/presenter(s) of accepted papers, and at least one of the presenters/authors must be present for the program.
