Knowledge Management Section

Theme: Knowledge Management: Towards Understanding in the Multi-Cultural World

Sharing knowledge and building understanding is a common goal for libraries, corporations, governments and countries. IFLA's Knowledge Management Section provides an international platform at the 74th World Library and Information Congress, to support the development and implementation of a knowledge management culture in libraries, information centers, and the profession as a whole.

The KM Section is looking for speakers for it's 2008 program at the WLIC/IFLA conference. We are looking for proposals in the context of our theme and which may cover the following topics:

  • Knowledge management tools, tips, and techniques - how to make KM work.
  • Case studies of successful knowledge management in libraries.
  • Knowledge management applications in multi-cultural environments.
  • Impact of knowledge management on knowledge workers.
  • Teaching knowledge management in academic environments.
  • Technology supporting knowledge management.
  • Building taxonomies.
  • Multi-lingual knowledge retrieval.
  • Information architecture and structuring knowledge.

Please include your name, title, organization, address, phone, email, and not more than a 300 word abstract of what you plan to talk about in your proposed talk.

The KM Section conference committee plans to finalize it's program by February 1, 2008 and will be in touch with those who send in proposals.
