Field trip to Grosse-Ile and the Irish National Historic Site of Canada

(Section 37 - Genealogy and Local History)

Wednesday, 13 August 2008 - 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

During this all-day excursion, participants will visit an island in the St. Lawrence River near Quebec City that was used as an immigrant quarantine station from 1832-1937. A recent initiative by Library and Archives Canada provides Internet access to records associated with this historic site.

This trip has been arranged with a local private tour operator. Due to the operator's requirements, the deadline for registration through IFLA has passed.

There may still be some room available. Those interested should contact the tour operator directly (see below) to inquire about space and make an individual booking.
Please meet at Bassin Louise (180 rue Dalhousie), about 2.2 km from the Quebec Convention Centre at 9:00 a.m. and identify yourself to the GENLOC field trip organizers (look for the GENLOC signs).

Please note that lunch will NOT be included for those who register late.
However, food can be purchased in the Grosse-Ile cafeteria. Late registrants are welcome to join the GENLOC special presentation and tour.
