MAIN CONFERENCE THEME AND SUB-THEMES

"Libraries of the Future" is the overall theme chosen for the 61st IFLA Istanbul Conference, with the following sub-themes, which will be coordinated and emphasized within particular areas of 61st IFLA Conference activities.

PRE-CONFERENCE MEETINGS (Details to be announced)

CONFERENCE VENUE

The Conference will be held at Swissotel The Bosphorus, in the centre of the city on the European side, situated in a park-like residential area overlooking the Bosphorus and the Asian coast of Istan bul. The hotel is close to main business and shopping districts of the city and near to Dolmabahçe Palace.

The hotel has hosted many international meetings. Fully equipped meeting rooms offer some of the most advanced technical facilities.

EXHIBITION

The exhibition area at Swissôtel The Bosphorus is situated between the meeting rooms thus enabling maximum attendance. Since only 1000 square meters of exhibition space is available, space will be a llocated on "first come first served" basis. This exhibition provides a forum in which exhibitors may introduce their new products and services to participants from all over the world. As in previo us IFLA conferences, the exhibition is expected to be a major component of IFLA 1995.

Tekelioglu Public Library, Antalya

Istanbul has a wide variety of libraries; old ones, dating several centuries back and modern ones. Visits will be arranged to the following libraries.
