Standing Committee and Section Membership

The Standing Committee has eight members from seven countries, three corresponding members, and two observers. Section registration in 1994 stood at 66 members.

Projects

Social Science Documentation Bibliography

The compilation of a bibliography of documentation literature specifically related to the social sciences, based largely, but not entirely, on materials that appeared in the SSID Liaison Bulletin< /i> (now discontinued) has begun. It will be published both in print form and via Internet before the end of 1994.

Other

Two other projects on micromaterials and grey literature were discontinued as the contractees are no longer active in the Section.

Publications

Newsletter

The Section's own Newsletter, which is the continuation of the SSID Liaison Bulletin, was published once during the year.

Future Conferences

Istanbul 1995

The Section will organize one session on ongoing projects in different countries via Internet in the social sciences. A half-day workshop on "CD-ROMs in Social Sciences" is also planned.

Beijing 1996

Stanley Kalkus (USA) is in charge of planning the programme. Kyllikki Ruokonen will explore possibilities of organizing a half-day workshop with speakers from China, Japan, India, Indonesia and Sri L anka.

Havana Meetings

Open Session

The Section organized a joint session together with the UDT Core Programme, the Section on Information Technology and the Section on Science and Technology Libraries on the "Use of the Internet" for which the Section provided three speakers.

Workshops

A workshop was organized together with the same partners listed above. A second full-day workshop, attended by 35 participants, was organized jointly with the Round Table on Management on "Budgetary Planning in Libraries" for which the Section provided one speaker.
