General Information

    Conference Location

    The 66th IFLA Conference will be held at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Binyanei Ha-Ooma in Jerusalem. Situated on the principal artery leading from the main entrance to Jerusalem, the ICC is within walking distance of the central bus station and a number of hotels in various price ranges. Facilities for the disabled are provided.

    Transportation

    El Al Israel Airlines and other major airlines provide convenient travel connections from major airports throughout the world. Jerusalem is a 40 minute drive from Ben Gurion International Airport. Transportation to Jerusalem is available 24 hours a day.

    Insurance

    It is recommended that you obtain comprehensive travel and health insurance.

    Passport and Visas

    A valid passport is required for entry into Israel. Please check with your travel agent for visa requirements. (Note: visas are not required from most countries.) Participants from countries without diplomatic relations with Israel should contact the nearest Israeli embassy for assistance. Upon request the Jerusalem Secretariat will issue an official letter of invitation to facilitate visa applications, if notified five months prior to the Conference. This invitation does not include financial support.

    Weather / Clothing

    Temperatures in August generally range between 20o -30o Centigrade (68o-90o Fahrenheit) throughout the country. Jerusalem is in the hills and enjoys dry weather, very low humidity, and brilliantly clear skies. It does not rain in Israel during the summer months. Jerusalem evenings are generally mild, allowing for comfortable outdoor activities.
