Call for Papers - Library and Information Science Journals Section

Theme: Blurring the Boundaries - Changing the Way in Which We Create, Distribute and Utilise Knowledge in LIS Journals

Technical developments are dissolving the traditional links in the information chain, such that the future-oriented library faces the challenge of organising itself to deliver information products and services which are in multi and constantly evolving media. This includes LIS research and professional journals.

"Blurring the boundaries" seeks to bring together experts representing some of the new models which are evolving within and without the LIS journals information chain. They will examine emerging trends such as:
  • open access initiatives
  • resulting journal disaggregation
  • new economic models
  • new aggregator models
  • site licensing
  • new forms of publisher co-operation and discuss the implications for LIS journals.

The perspectives of LIS practitioners, academics, publishers, agents/vendors and users are invited.

The conference takes place in Berlin, Germany 1-9 August 2003. No financial support can be provided, but a special invitation can be issued to authors of accepted papers. Papers must be submitted in one of the official IFLA languages (English, French, German, Russian, Spanish)
