A. OPTIONAL DAY TOURS

The cost of the following excursions corresponds to regular tours, i.e. a local bus company picks up passengers at different hotels. Tours may include other passengers aside from Congress participants.

TOUR 1: CITY SIGHTSEEING TOUR
(A 3-hour drive. Daily departures at 09.30 and 14.30).
Buenos Aires is undoubtedly one of the large American cities that best combines the cosmopolitan and aristocratic atmosphere of European cities. However, yet another atmosphere that includes the colourful corrugated iron houses in La Boca and the popular tango played on the streets in San Telmo blends into Buenos Aires. This mixture is what makes this city such an original and irresistible metropolis. This tour is an introduction to Buenos Aires, showing you the highlights of this city viewed through its history and its culture to understand how it grew from a small village to a large city. The following districts will be visited: City centre, Monserrat, San Telmo, La Boca, Puerto Madero, Palermo and Recoleta, stopping at Plaza de Mayo, Caminito and Recoleta Cemetery.
Price per person: USD 10.--

TOUR 2: TIGRE AND THE PARANA RIVER DELTA
(5 hours- Operates Mondays to Thursdays at 14.00).
On this tour you will get to know another part of the city: its residential district. You will drive through elegant Barrio Norte (Northern neighbourhood), along Libertador Avenue passing by several sports clubs (River Plate and its World Championship stadium, Gimnasia y Esgrima de Buenos Aires, Ciudad Club and the Federal Shooting Range amongst others). Continuing your journey you will see the Presidential Residence in Olivos and the residential districts of Martinez and San Isidro to finally arrive in Tigre where you will be taken on a one-hour boat cruise along the canals of the Parana Delta, the place of choice for water sports lovers and hundreds of families who enjoy spending the day at one of the many restaurants and entertainment centres or their own weekend houses.
This can also be done as a full-day excursion including lunch at one of the typical Delta restaurants.
Price per person: USD 18.--

TOUR 3: GAUCHO TOUR
(7 hours - Operates on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 10.00).
An outing to enjoy Argentine gaucho and country traditions, folklore dancing and music, local customs and meals.
Participants will be taken to Estancia Santa Susana in the outskirts of the city, where you will be greeted by the owners with the typical "empanadas" (pastries with different fillings) and red wine. After a short visit to the facility, a typical Argentine barbecue will be served, followed by a folklore show. There will be time in the afternoon to ride on horseback or on old-fashioned carriages and watch a demonstration of gaucho skills and games.
Price per person: USD 30.--

TOUR 4: TEMAIKÉN
